About

Metro Detroit Gamers

Since 1972, the Metro Detroit Gamers (MDG) has hosted a series of gaming conventions for the enjoyment of gamers everywh…ere! MDG is proud to continue this tradition by welcoming those who enjoy playing games of all stripes: wargames, board games, chess, card games, train games, naval, space and army miniatures, role-playing games and more!

Metro Detroit Gamers history is vast, with a dedicated core of game players just like you who enjoy promoting and gathering fellow gamers together for one purpose: FUN! So stop on by at the next MDG convention, or better yet volunteer to run a game and enjoy the masses!

The idea for the Metro Detroit Gamers FaceBook Experience is for gamers in the Metro Detroit area to connect and get the word out about the MDG gaming conventions and all the local and regional gaming conventions too.

Is Mike Reese still around?

An old friend from our WWII minis and naval battles would like to get a hold of him

Thanks

Mike Reese is still around and he’ll be running a couple of games on Saturday.

Here’s the link to the Wintercon 2010 events:

George:

Yep, still around. Playing FOW and other miniatures with John Thull, another Ferndale resident. Running a couple games at Wintercon. Not going to as many Cons as I was four or five years ago.
Sold my 1/285 and added a 15mm collection. Also 28mm and still have my 1/2400 WWII naval.

Tried World of Tanks. OK but not up to PANZER ELITE in realism. Just a shooter.

Hello,

I’m curious about your group. How would I join in on the fun? Where do I go and who do I contact? Also, what games are currently being played?

Thanks

Matt Kiriazis - December 20, 2011

Metro Detroit Gamers encourages all types of gaming primarily through our 2 game conventions, WinterCon (early December) and MichiCon (June or August). Our conventions offer Board Games, Miniatures (both historical & non-historical) and Role Playing games.

In between, we support 2 Board Gaming monthly Meetups in the tri-county area. You can check the calendars at the following links:
At the Sterling Heights Library: http://www.meetup.com/MDG-Sterling-Heights-Library-Gamers/
At the Canton Library: http://www.meetup.com/BoardGamersLeague/
Note, you’re not limited to Board Games as many of the gamers have broader interests and they meet here to expand their gaming contacts and experiences.

Best of all, there’s no dues or fees. Just show up and play. Bring your favorite games or learn to play a new one.
